Fwd: Yes sir, yes ma'am

Yes sir, yes ma'am

Hi all-
I am tempted to join the chorus in the regular December expression in saying 'Waoh how time flies!'

The 2011 page was definitely loaded with life changing happennings, both on a personal as well as on a global scale. From the loss of 2 dear friends, one in an accident as recent as 3 weeks ago ( one of the worst accidents this year) and the other through a senseless murder, to the Nato led war in Libya and Tim tebow making headlines in American football! This space is limited, to talk about 2011 indeed.

Another Christmas in the horizon a time when men meditate (hopefully) on the reason for their being and how the previous year was lived!

Isn't it both interesting and strategic that this is set right at the beginning of the year? Almost as if God was giving us another chance to hit the reset button!

As i meditate on the events that governed 2011, and my role in the picture, one thought keeps coming through ie a challenge to take (always) the right stand...in spite of the (perceived) consequences.

Saint John recorded in the 8th chapter of the Bible, "if the son sets you free, you are free indeed...".

One of the reasons we do not reach point optimum, in the exercise of our potentials, is fear. We become yes sir, yes ma'am people for fear others. We ditch our convictions and become ineffective ( shelving years of quality education, conviction and experience) in the pursuit of objectives that have no substance. Jesus' words are still true 'what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and losses his soul?' Translation- nothing temporal should steer you off the goal of spending eternity in heaven.

Jesus came to set us free...even from allegiances that tie us down and render us ineffective. We are so afraid to hurt the
feelings of others, by taking the right stand, preferring to hide behind acceptance. This is not only low and degrading, you were created for more. God created us, not to be Yes sir, yes ma'am people, but a people who know, have experienced peace in Christ, His salvation and hold true in faith the promise of eternity in Heaven.

The joy of Christmas rather than being emphasized in the things we receive, should focus on the promise we received because God kept His promise to redeem man back to Himself. This calls for celebration and a reminder of our responsibilities.

Joy to the world indeed the Lord has come. Have you received the king? He alone can help us break away from this rat race and position our eyes on that which is trully eternal and worthy.

Have a joyful and liberated (from the yes sir/ma'am syndrome) Christmas, your family too.

Inno

He came that we may have life and more abundantly...

Trust in Jesus always~that is direction Prov 3v5-6.

Food and memory

Is there a link between food and memory, Yes I say!
I drank 'Peak' milk this morning and a memory hit me almost immediately…when I fell ill, as a kid, mum was always ready with a can of 'Peak' milk! It felt like I was transported back in time as I took a sip of the thick creamy smooth milk this morning. I had almost forgotten how good it tastes!
Are they some foods/drinks that bring fond or 'better to forget' memories to you?
It must have been really hard for Jesus' listeners (especially those who only heard verse 56 ff) to fathom what he meant when he said..."Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him."(John 6v56). The Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" (See Verse 52). Jesus is also referred to as the Word (In the beginning was the word..John 1) and He shed his blood on Calvary for sinful man.
The issue therefore is not indulging in some ignorant act of mysticism, but rather to receive Jesus the Word (meditating on it, to both internalize and put it into practice Joshua 1v8) and accept His sacrifice on Calvary (hand him over the reins of your life and accept his role as the lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice for all your sins).
The food link would have made the early disciples remember he said this.
..and as Jesus said, "What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!'" John 13v37
Watch indeed,
Love
